Kansas City Newborn Photographer Images
Talk about chills! Wow. This is the session for it. It’s important to trust someone with experience to do your Kansas City newborn photography because knowing a few things makes a huge difference in the comfort of your baby. A comfortable baby makes a happy baby, which makes for gorgeous images.
Our goal at this stage is to have your baby sleeping through most of the photography. If a baby is awake, they will cry – pure and simple. We advise our mothers to bring babies in hungry before starting their photography session with our Kansas City photographer, Chris Cummins. We have set aside a nursing area for you to have some privacy, quiet and comfort to feed your baby upon arriving. Why do we want your baby freshly fed? We want your baby in a “milk coma.” That way they will be sleepy and most likely tolerate the session.
We advise all our parents to bring their baby in within two weeks of their birth. It is during these first couple of weeks the baby is sleeping nearly all the time and is most receptive to touches and the foreign environment of the photography studio. After two weeks your baby is not holding that position she or he kept for nine months in the womb either. We like that position for stunning poses for your baby!
Clothing for your Kansas City newborn portraits?
Keep it simple. This is a mantra you will be very familiar with as we work through the stages of your baby’s sessions. Nearly all of our work will be with your baby without a diaper or only with a diaper. Don’t worry if your baby has to go potty, they will. It’s what we signed up for! It doesn’t bother us at all. We’ll have you clean baby, we’ll clean the studio and move on without missing a beat!
Note: Parents may want to dress in layers or for a hot room during this session. We keep the studio at about 85 degrees for newborn portraits, this keeps your baby very comfortable and sleepy. It can be uncomfortable for us adults. Baby loves it!
